I was thinking the same thing concerning hives of activity on the 'Net. It's not all related to disinterest in stocks and posting activity in a general sense, though. There's more to it.

Perhaps there are too many hives now, diluting the levels of activity that can be found in any one of them. Except for Yahoo, that is.

During the mid-90s, when Compuserve was the bastion of interactive forum activity, I recall its sudden drop off in postings when the 'Net went live circa 1995-6. Forums were being closed, one by one, and everyone with an investing interest went over to the SIs and Raging Bulls of the world.

It'll pick up here again, I trust, but not to the levels that were once enjoyed, unless something really radical changes either in the forum's makeup or the market's overall volume.
