07:36 Gartner raises chip-market growth forecasts - Reuters

Reuters reports that research firm Gartner Inc. on Thursday raised its forecast for global semiconductor sales in 2005, targeting 5.9 percent growth to $233 billion from a previous forecast of a 3.4 percent rise. It also revised its projection for 2006 chip sales to $248 billion, an increase of 6.5 percent, from an earlier estimate of 2.1 percent growth. The chip industry is expected to post a 5.1 percent rise in
sales to $261 billion in 2007.
