Mike, Chip, Jeff and others who talk to 3dfx...

Next time any one of you guys talk to or e-mail a 3dfx official could you ask them why Banshee is being delayed. I guess I've made a nuisance of myself and no longer get responses. (Diamond stated in their CC they were shipping this quarter but EB says 10/15, so if anybody says there's no delay they're full of it.)

Considering that Banshee is a critical part of making this Q's earnings I thought it might be something we'd want to know. It's extremely possible that one of the following might have happened:

1) No WHQL certification (driver issues)
2) Probs. with the 16 MB version
3) Limited supply of chips or problems at TSMC

I've kinda been hanging on what Tom's final report about the 16 MB version is going to be like to put my worries at ease. His comments about the final version being much different has me both worried and curious.

Help from some of you technical dudes?

Would a strips and fans implementation (DX6 or Glide) be low level enough to work even on DX5 games? Nobody seems to know.

The reason I ask is because TNT is implementing this now in DX6 where Voodoo2 is not.

Hey guys, 3dfx doesn't have to go Quantum3d only or buy out Quantum3d for them to get revenue from the boards. Like my previous post mentioned, they were getting money from Obsidian even after the split. I don't see any reason why they couldn't do something similar.

Miss your comments Chip. Glad to know you're still with us.
